Search of knowledge for all ages

 


Looking for resources on knowledge now we have so many options, earlier it was books, poster, painting records, films e.t.c. 

Now we have books in hard copy, soft copy other items also available in hard and soft copies but resources through internet is great. It is difficult to select the correct one the data may not be verified. But official data through website may be useful. You need not to reach to be present at the library, museum and archives, you can access through on line most important resources are digitized or in the process of digitization. 


In India we have a good library net work, The Raja Rammohan Roy  Library Foundation RRRLF is the apex body to promote libraries  activities in India. 


The National Library which was earlier named Imperial Library is located in Kolkata. It has huge collections. The publishers from India  as per delivery of book act deposit their publication in this library.  Indian National Library  Online access of digitized resources of Indian National Library



Each States and Union Territories(UT) are having their own libraries net work, apart from this there are several national level libraries are existing. The West Bengal State is having a Net work of libraries,

Indian National Library is having reading, lending membership with no cost. The xerox, microfilming scope are there on cost basis. The e resources facilities are there. On normal time it operate Monday  to Sun days. Sun Day and Saturday all the sections are not functioning and opening times are reduced on this days and Holidays. There is a children section also.

 There are galleries of National Heroes, some of the visuals are here.





The Indian Government Official and Foreign Governments publications sections, News Paper and periodicals sections  are there.

British Council Library support to New Town Library

 


It was in 1972 a group of young people are planning for a mountaineering expedition to Indian Himalayas. The source of information was book, journal, photo and sketch map. We used to visit the National library. 


Our leader Sanatan Bhattacharya who was then a regular visitor of British Council Library at Shakespeare Sarani. He borrowed a book titled four mile high by  Josephina Scar. The book contains the vivid account of their climbing experience of Central & Lion Peaks of 1962. We carried this book for oue expedition helped us quite a lot to reach our summit.


On 1st October 2020 the Director British Council Library (BCL) and Chairman HIDCO signed MOU for supporting New Town Library(NTL) on  resources for the benefit of the members of NTL.


In my life I love to read books and journals to enrich my knowledge.

The ICRC and Universities

The International Committee Red Cross Red Crescent (ICRC)

Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is only society recognized
in India by the ICRC (www.icrc.org ) In our country
IRCS is working since 1920. they have branches in all the States and UTs,
districts and sub division level. 

2. The ICRC and Universities of the World working together
to promote international humanitarian law. We are one of the partner
organisation working this direction. We would like to request you kindly
consider to promote international humanitarian law in your University. .

3. We propose some of the steps which may be considered at the
initial stage to find out the scope to promote the issue for the benefit of teaching,
researcher and students communities

a)  Collection of
printed and electronic publications, initially we will handed over some
publications, same may be displayed & issued through your library, you can
select the publications on line (www.icrc.org )

b) International Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC) (www.ifrc.org) is having a e learning platform
any person as volunteer may join this programme  for registration, training, evaluation and issue of certificate are  carried on line.
